Teso Initiative for Peace (TIP) with funding from CARITAS Switzerland has implemented a 3-year Teso Livelihoods Support Project (TELIS-Project) in Gweri and Kamuda sub counties in Soroti district, Uganda. This project has taken an approach of working with clan heads to spiral the development agenda in the target Sub-Counties. The project targets 55 villages in Gweri and 55 in Kamuda Sub-counties. Each of the beneficiary villages having formed a team of clan leaders from all clans that make up that Village, these clan heads were constituted into Clan Investment Units (CIUs)
Project goal:
To contribute to the increase in food security and incomes of 1,600 small holder farmers in Gweri and Kamuda sub counties in Soroti district.
Project Objectives
- Establish and strengthen 80 Clan Investment Units as advocacy and cooperative marketing entities
- Support 1,600 Clan Investment Unit members to increase their agricultural production and productivity.
- Support 1,600 Clan Investment Unit members for livelihood diversification and increased access to markets.
- Establish and maintain the TELIS project management, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and learning mechanisms
